Longevity & Healthspan

I have a particular interest in healthy aging and longevity science. Increasingly, recent research is revealing that biological aging, not genetics, is the greatest risk factor for the development of chronic diseases. Significantly, biological aging does not equal chronological age. With diet and lifestyle habits, we have the power to accelerate or slow down the aging process.

Longevity simply means a long life. Indeed, life expectancy has nearly doubled in the last century. I’m interested in supporting your healthspan so that you can live with vitality. Diet and lifestyle have significant impact on the onset and progression of chronic diseases, disabilities, physical frailty and cognitive decline so common as we age.

There is an estimated 9-year healthspan-to-lifespan gap, when older adults spend, on average, 20% of life in poor health. Decreased physical and cognitive function may be typical characteristics of old age, but it doesn’t have to be the norm. We don’t need to expect this or accept it.

The processes that lead to age related chronic diseases start decades before any signs or symptoms begging to surface. Inflammation, gut dysbiosis, cellular and mitochondrial dysfunction are amongst the biological mechanisms that underpin the aging process. Diet and lifestyle can be used as a tool to reduce inflammation, rebalance gut microbiome and optimise cellular function to slow the aging process.

My approach to longevity uses science-based nutritional and lifestyle tools to promote healthy longevity.
